a grateful heart

…and gentle thank yous

Happy Thanksgiving to my friends here in Canada. May your bellies be full of pumpkin pie, laughs and some deep exhales.

(and go Jays go!)

Writing in my journal this week has been filled with a quality of gentle appreciation. I have received a feeling of thankfulness for health, for friendship, for family moments and for the fresh air mother nature gives us.

This quality of presence where gratitude naturally arises isn’t always present in my day to day.

I keep a photo album for myself on my phone called “for when I forget”.

I drop in photos and screenshots of messages sent to me that make me feel really good and uplift me. Little notes or texts from friends, family, clients, there may be one in there from you 😊

It’s for moments when I forget.

When I forget who I am
When I’m discouraged, disoriented, dysfunctional
When gratitude feels harder to access in a moment

It has become a comforting collection of words & thoughts to have on hand when I need a little lift.

I needed one recently and went to read the messages in my album and tuned right into a remembrance.

Inside this album I saw a beautiful quote. At first I thought, ‘oh I mis-filed it, I don’t usually put quotes here’ and then I realized it was precisely for me ‘for when I forget’

“and perhaps
what made her beautiful
was not her appearance
or what she achieved
but in her love
and in her courage
and her audacity
to believe
no matter
the shadows
around her,
Light ran wild
within her,
and that was the way
she came alive,
and it showed up
in everything.”

~ Morgan Harper Nichols

May this be inspiration…

May this be inspiration for you to create a ‘for when I forget’ album or some collection of gentle reminders to re-direct you back to your heart, back to your magnificence, back to your inner-knowing.

Some days we just forget. Life can slump, gratitude feels distant.

Wishing you a beautiful miracle somewhere in your day today. And a moment alone to cultivate gentle appreciation for something in your life, and for something within yourself. Here is a beautiful song to support you as you drop in, and a diffuser blend I have going: Frankincense (2 drops) and Wild Orange (4 drops).

Much love.
