the olfactory connection
plus, fresh spring cleaning vibes
I’m sitting on my porch with my toes in the sun, sipping my collagen over ice, ready to plant our planters when my girls get home from school. Pausing for full breath awareness. Grateful for what is. It’s the long weekend here in Canada, and by the time you receive this it will be Monday evening.
I’m sharing some phenomenal, energizing diffuser blends for bringing Spring & Summer into your home which also may also lift some of that Scorpio Full Moon energy from last week…🫠
The blends you want to bring out right now for a lift – Island Mint / SuperMint / Citrus Bloom / Citrus Bliss / Sunny Citrus and the La Luz Diffuser is my favourite.
Get your diffusers out!
If they’re in a cupboard somewhere give them a quick spring clean (directions below), and get them going! Diffusing is life.
As soon as I turn mine on, it’s an instant lift.
I dropped Citrus Bloom into the kitchen diffuser this morning and it was an immediate ease – and a remembrance to take a long full breath whilst deep in custom smoothie-making for the girls.
While we’re Spring cleaning, here’s how you clean your diffuser:
Regularly—
Wipe out the water reservoir and lid with a damp cloth.
Add 1 drop lemon oil and wipe.
Deeper Clean (once/month)—
Fill the diffuser halfway with water and add a small splash of white vinegar.
Let the diffuser run for 5 mins to disperse the mixture.
Drain and use a damp cloth to wipe the inside of the diffuser.
For stubborn areas, use a q-tip/cotton swab dipped in white vinegar & gently scrub.
Lastly, a topic particular close to me right now—the olfactory connection with scent and cognition.
Curious about diffusing beyond “smelling like Spring!” check out this INC. article for some solid science.
Cognitive benefits come with diffusing. In this article, neuroscience shows that nightly aromatherapy could boost memory and help your productivity.
“Diffusing for just 2 hours/night for older adults showed a 226% greater improvement on a word recall memory test compared to control participants. Imaging also revealed improved integrity in the memory-related brain pathway that typically declines with age.”
7 oils on 2-week rotation in the study: rose, lemon, orange, lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, rosemary. Cognitive decline is an experience of a loved one of mine, so it feels important to share.
Loving you,
Christine
